The MSI Claw release date actually arrived a little sooner than many people expected, introducing yet another PC gaming handheld to the market. That means more competition for the popular Steam Deck, as well as the ASUS ROG Ally. The latter is currently getting a big price cut on Best Buy, which could make it the best value of the lot.
You can now get the ROG Ally for as little $399.99, which is a clean $300 less than the new MSI Claw. This is for the 512GB model. While this isn’t the full 1TB on offer, you can upgrade the storage without too much hassle at all. If you want a gaming handheld for cheap, this could be your best option right now.

ASUS ROG Ally discounted on Best Buy
Both ASUS ROG Ally models available on Best Buy are seeing a price cut. At the time of writing, you’ll find $200 and $100 off for the 512GB Z1 and Z1 Extreme models respectively. We don’t know how long these deals will last – so check it out before it’s too late.

Compare that to the prices of the brand-new MSI Claw below, and the Ally looks to be a fantastic alternative and much better bang for your buck. The Ally even seems to pull ahead in benchmark tests so far.

Is the Ally a good alternative to MSI Claw?
Both models offer similar specs with a 7″ screen and 120Hz FHD visuals. The key difference would be the processors on board. ASUS ROG stick to AMD with RDNA graphics – much like the Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go handhelds, but MSI has gone for Intel’s new Ultra mobile processors.
Early benchmarks for the MSI Claw show that the performance is actually worse than that of the ROG Ally, especially as it seems like the newer Intel chip isn’t quite as optimized as the tried and tested AMD hardware. We’d fully recommend the Ally over the Claw considering the large disparity in price at the moment. This price cut even makes the Steam Deck vs ASUS ROG Ally a solid win for the latter.
